Apple plans to start using the new connector in the accessories for iPhone, iPad and other compatible
devices in the program Made-for-iPhone (MFi). This is reported by 9to5Mac and The Verge, citing informed sources inside the company.
Kupertinovtsy recently released a Developer Preview of the new terminal, which is planned to be used as the adapter with the Lightning to USB-C. The new 8-pin connector has dimensions of 2.05 x 4.85 mm, it is slightly smaller in width than the USB-C and Lightning. It is similar to the same connector for Nikon cameras.
Sources claim that Apple has no plans to replace the Lightning, and so does use of new devices. In addition, the company has created a new port at the request of MFI-producers, not to replace the current ones. UAC is used to communicate with the headphone jack with Lightning USB-C and vice versa.
It is assumed that the new connection will serve Lightning adapter for communication and USB-C, operating on the principle Lightning-to-UAC and the USB-C-to-UAC, allowing to connect any headphones UAC. So that we can breathe, the new connector in the iPhone does not appear, the old accessories will still be live. ;)
