iMac can not be used as an external display

The difference in price affect the ability to display the new iMac. Use iMac Retina as an external monitor can not.

For several years, the entire line of iMac monoblocks supported the possibility of using as an external monitor for outside the Mac. According to TechChrunch, relay image on the display with a resolution of 5K will be impossible.
The reason that Apple has not presented a line of 5K-monitors on the last presentation - fails protocol DisplayPort 1.2, built-in Thunderbolt 2. port capacity is simply not enough to transmit images with high resolution. None of the Mac computer is not ready to settle 5K. Theoretically, the company could simply install a miniature relay, lowering the final scan on the screen of the new iMac, but this solution is far from the "ideas of perfectionism" that haunts Apple.

Previously approved DisplayPort 1.3 requires processor family Broadwell, whose production is significantly delayed. Most likely, Apple will release a separate line of monitors with a resolution of 5K, that's just not one on the market of computers Mac (including MacPro 2013) is not compatible with the new product. Will Apple take such a step, or the battle for the company has got permission to a standstill?
